Paul Erickson has been National Secretary of the Australian Labor Party since 2019.
Paul was campaign director on Labor’s 2022 and 2025 federal election campaigns, becoming only the fourth ALP National Secretary to lead a winning campaign from opposition and going on to deliver one of Labor’s biggest wins with the Albanese government’s re-election.
From 2014 to 2019 Paul was an Assistant National Secretary of the ALP and led Labor’s target seats unit on the 2016 and 2019 federal elections. He directed Labor’s campaigns in the Canning (2015), Batman (2018), Braddon (2018), Eden-Monaro (2020), Aston (2023) and Dunkley (2024) by-elections.
Prior to joining the National Secretariat, Paul worked in policy and campaign roles at the Australian Council of Trade Unions and the Victorian and New South Wales governments. He was an adviser to state Labor ministers Peter Batchelor, Richard Wynne, and Carmel Tebbutt.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Graduate Diploma in Economics from the University of Melbourne.
