Brighton Foreshore Upgrade
Federal Labor will help deliver the foreshore upgrade Brighton Deserves
Federal Member for Lilley Wayne Swan today committed $5 million towards upgrading Brighton Foreshore.
The upgrade will be delivered through community consultation and through working with Deagon Ward Councillor Jared Cassidy and the Brisbane City Council.
The upgrade will include:
• Expanded beach areas to give locals and visitors direct access to Moreton Bay
• Wider paths to encourage cycling, running and leisurely walks
• Sheltered picnic tables, BBQs and amenities
The upgrade will cater for local families and anyone who enjoys the view of one of Brisbane’s most beautiful natural attractions.
Mr Swan said, “the Brighton foreshore is one of the most beautiful parts of Brisbane and this upgrade will allow for locals to enjoy the foreshore even more.”
Councillor Jared Cassidy said this was a big win for locals.
“Residents in Brighton have been crying out for an upgrade for years. This is such a unique part of Brisbane and it deserves to be treated that way”
“There are so many facilities that are lacking on the Brighton Foreshore”
“We have a great opportunity to make this unique area our gateway to Moreton Bay”
Mr Swan said that it was important to that the views of the community be central to the upgrade.
“We want to make sure the people of Brighton have their say on the upgrade, so we’ll be starting community consultation with local residents immediately following the election”.
