Extra Courts for Mandurah Aquatic & Recreation Centre

JARRAD GOOLD

LABOR CANDIDATE FOR CANNING

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver $4 million for a court expansion at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre.

The Labor candidate for Canning, Jarrad Goold, has today announced this election commitment would go towards the construction of three additional indoor multi-use courts along with seating, change rooms, an office and umpire’s room, a medical room and a community meeting space.

The Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre is a vital hub for community sports, with more than 900,000 visits to the centre each year.

But due to rapidly growing demand, clubs are being forced to extend playing hours until late in the evening, shorten games, reduce the transition times between games and share court space to accommodate as many players as possible.

This court expansion will mean greater access to affordable local sporting facilities for this community.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to Jarrad Goold, Labor Candidate for Canning

‘Right now, the Mandurah Basketball Association is having to turn children and families away due to a lack of facilities. I want to change that.

‘That’s why I am so excited to announce this commitment to help the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre keep up with growing demand.’
