Employment growth in the first six months of the Albanese Government is the strongest for a new Australian Government on record.
New analysis of ABS data shows 234,000 more Australians gained work between May and November last year, with employment growth faster than that of any of the G7 major economies.
The Albanese Government’s Budget and economic plan are all about delivering more well-paid jobs, growing wages and creating more opportunities for more people in more parts of our country.
This level of jobs growth is history-making and world-beating.
With growing global pressures set to impact us more in 2023, having more Australians in good jobs is one of our best defences.
Australia’s employment growth rate of 1.7 per cent between May and November 2022 is faster than that of the US, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Japan and the UK.
We’re realistic about the challenges ahead of us this year, but we’re optimistic about the future of our nation and our economy.
While unemployment remains low, there’s plenty more we can still do, and will do, to make sure people can benefit from a growing economy.
Although Australia won’t be immune from a global slowdown, the Albanese Government is working to create a stronger, more inclusive and more resilient economy that can better withstand future shocks.
