$20 million to encourage Australians to buy Aussie made products

MINISTER FOR INDUSTRY

The Albanese Labor Government is building Australia’s future, delivering a $20 million campaign to encourage more Australians to buy locally made products.

We want to make sure when customers walk into a shop, they know straight away which products are made in Australia.

2024 Roy Morgan research found more than 90% of Australians have a preference for Aussie made products – that’s why we’re making it easier to find them.

Our $20 million Australian Made investment is:

  1. Launching a major new campaign - in stores, online and across media around Australia - to realise the economic and job benefits of more people buying Australian.
  2. Supporting more local manufacturers and producers to get Australian Made certification – giving local businesses the competitive edge they are looking for.
  3. Improving the online Made in Australia directory – so it’s easier to search for and find Australian products.

There are currently around 4,500 businesses licensed to carry the Australian Made logo, representing 40,000 jobs and combined annual revenue of around $8 billion.

Buying Australian Made supports jobs across our manufacturing sector, and in particular the more than 237,000 jobs in our vibrant food and beverage sector.

More than 40% of those jobs are in regional areas like Bundaberg.

The Albanese Labor Government is backing Australian workers and Australian products. We have:

  • Delivered the $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund which has already made $400 million of investments;
  • Invested more than $3 billion to support local green metal production;
  • Delivered the $1.7 billion Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund;
  • Extended energy bill relief for small businesses;
  • Provided $165 million in tax relief for hospitality venues, brewers, distillers and wine producers including a two-year freeze on the indexation of draught beer.

As at 29 March 2025.
