Suspension of the CFMEU in QLD, WA, ACT and NT

STATEMENT FROM ALP NATIONAL SECRETARY PAUL ERICKSON

Today the ALP National Executive suspended the construction division of the CFMEU from affiliation to the Queensland, Western Australian, ACT and NT Branches of the ALP.

Today’s resolution builds on the strong action taken by the ALP National Executive on 18 July 2024 when the construction division’s affiliation was suspended in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

The construction division of the CFMEU is now suspended from every state and territory branch of the ALP.

This suspension will remain in place until further notice.

For the duration of the suspension, the construction division of the CFMEU will be excluded from all rights ordinarily afforded to an affiliated union under Labor’s National Constitution and the rules of the ALP state and territory branches.

The Labor Party will not levy or accept any affiliation fees from any branches of the construction division of the CFMEU for the period of the suspension, including the division’s national office.

No political donations from these branches or the construction division’s national office will be accepted by the ALP or any of its state and territory branches.
