ALP National Secretariat is seeking expressions of interest for an exciting role in our digital team:

Digital Community Manager 

The Digital Community Manager is responsible for maintaining Labor’s digital community strategy in support of the National Secretariat’s digital plan.

The role is about delivering innovative supporter communications, fundraise and develop awareness about the ALPs supporter communications.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and maintain the ALP’s digital supporter strategy.
  • Renew the ALP’s Supporter Journey and online events plan.
  • Meet fundraising KPIs and overall goals.
  • Create opportunities for more Australians to join the community.
  • Support the ALP Store communications and our Federal Labor Business Forum team activities.
  • Collaborate with MP and Senator offices on appropriate communications for newsletters and updates.
  • Collaborate with progressive organisation professionals on key campaigning projects.
  • Design and deliver training to Federal Government groups.
  • Comply with employment laws and all internal policies including our code of conduct, OHS, anti-discrimination, privacy, security, use of ALP IT resources, financial delegations, and record keeping.

Essential skills

  • An understanding of organising theory.
  • 5+ years' experience in digital campaigning and supporter communications.
  • Excellence in creating effective email content and newsletters.
  • Understanding direct mail best practices and platforms.
  • Familiarity with digital advertising platforms including Google Ads and Facebook Ads Manager.
  • Ability to use graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Ability to analyse and use data to plan supporter campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and thoughtfully.
  • Commitment to the values of the ALP.
  • Capacity to exercise judgement, discretion, and initiative within a politically sensitive environment
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Great interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Capacity to work to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work without close direction and supervision.

About the role

The position is part of the Digital Unit and reports to the Digital Director.

The position will be filled at Level 1 of the Project/Operational/Executive ($72k - $108k + superannuation) set out in the ALP National Secretariat Terms and Conditions.
