Senator for Tasmania

Carol Brown has dedicated her career to standing up for Tasmanians. Born and raised in Tasmania, she understands the challenges facing local communities—whether it’s the cost of living, access to healthcare, secure jobs, or better infrastructure.

Carol’s passion for fairness and equality led her to join the Labor Party at just 20 years old, determined to fight for better wages, workers' rights, and equal opportunities for all. Since entering the Senate in 2005, she has been a tireless advocate for secure jobs, affordable housing, and quality healthcare—ensuring no one is left behind.

In the Albanese Government, Carol served as the Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, she has also held a range of shadow portfolios, championing policies that support families, carers, and regional communities. Carol has been a strong voice for women’s reproductive rights, disability rights, and the LGBTIQA+ community.

At a time when Tasmania faces growing economic and social challenges, Carol is focused on delivering real outcomes—strengthening local industries, investing in infrastructure, and ensuring Tasmanians can access the services they need.

Carol lives in Hobart with her family.
