A Shorten Labor Government will boost research into advanced breast cancer and brain cancer, with a $20 million investment in the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute.

The Olivia Newton-John Centre works to deliver the very best treatments, and world-leading cancer research all under one roof.

Labor’s investment will allow the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute to continue their pioneering work targeting new treatments for advanced breast cancer and brain cancer.

Labor’s funding will go towards establishing a Breast Cancer Metastasis and Dormancy Research Initiative, researching a test that will identify the 10-15 % of breast cancer survivors at risk of relapse.

Labor’s investment will also support ongoing work on the biology of brain cancers and builds on the previous Labor Government’s $15 million investment to the establishment of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre.

We will pay for it by making multinationals pay their fair share and closing tax loopholes used by the top end of town.
