Matt Gregg is tired of Deakin being taken for granted in Canberra and is determined to give his community the strong local voice they deserve.
Growing up in the South-East of Melbourne, Matt was raised by an electrician and a teacher – a teacher who instilled in her children the importance of getting a good education, working hard, and fighting for what’s fair.
Inspired by his mum, Matt began his career as a teacher after completing qualifications in Law, Education and Community Development.
As a teacher, Matt worked in a variety of schools, from regional to metro, public and private, and specialist, because he believes every child should be able to reach their full potential through great local schooling, no matter their background. He is passionate about making sure that every Australian has access to quality schools, universities and TAFE, because he has seen first-hand the benefits of equal access to education.
More recently, Matt has been working as a lawyer, and has previously volunteered with organisations such as YouthLaw. In every aspect of his professional life, Matt has dedicated himself to helping build a better future, and has seen first hand the impacts of education cuts, the daily battle many working class families face, and the dedication of small business owners.
After eight long years of inaction under the Liberals, Matthew Gregg and Labor will deliver a better, fairer future with secure jobs, affordable childcare, good schools and a health system based on your Medicare card, not your credit card.
