James Martin, Labor's candidate for Hasluck, was brought up in the Perth Hills and went to school in Swan View and Woodbridge. He chose to bring up his own young family locally to be close to his family and because of his love of the Hills community.
After graduating from school, James studied mathematics and physics at university before starting out his career in the financial industry. He realised that his passion was the development of technology and he began his own company to help make that passion a reality.
James has also dedicated over 17 years to the Australian Army Reserves, serving as an officer in the Corps of the Royal Australian Engineers.
James has a passion for education and technology, knowing they must complement each other and are vital for Australia's long term prosperity and sustainability. From his time as a small business owner he understands the important role of businesses in a thriving economy, yet knows that the keys to a successful business is a society where everyone has an opportunity to get ahead and that good jobs need to be fought for and protected.
James decided to run for Parliament because he thinks that for too long the needs and aspirations of the people living in Perth's eastern corridor have been ignored.
He wants to be strong voice for his community and make sure their views are heard in Canberra.
