An educator, human rights advocate, and long-time member of the ALP, Catherine believes that the people of North Sydney deserve a representative who will fight to protect the environment, restore integrity to federal politics and ensure a prosperous and secure future for our young people.
Catherine went to school in North Sydney and she and he husband John have raised their children, Jack, Madelaine and Marcus in Northbridge. A Professor of Law at Western Sydney University, Catherine is passionate about human rights and teaching her diverse, hardworking students - many of who are the first in their family to go to university.
She has worked as both a legal aid lawyer and for large commercial law firms, and has a PhD and a Masters degree from the University of Sydney and a Law degree from the University of New South Wales.
Catherine has seen first-hand the effect on young people of the current government’s failure to address the crises of our time – climate change and the pandemic. She is deeply concerned about issues of aged care, youth mental health, access to TAFE and tertiary education, race and gender equality and early childhood education. Catherine will work tirelessly to protect the rights of the vulnerable and our essential workers, and to help build a future our young people can believe in.
