Biography

Elected to the Senate for Tasmania 1990. Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Primary Industries and Energy 1993-96. Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Superannuation from 1991-93 and deputy chair of Superannuation and Financial Services Senate Select from 1999-02. A member of the Joint Statutory for Public Accounts and Audit from 01-02.

Parliamentary party positions: Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Senate for 1996-97.

Shadow Minister for Finance and Superannuation for 1996-97. Assistant Treasurer and Shadow Minister for Superannuation and Business Regulation 1997. Shadow Minister for Retirement Incomes and Savings from 2001-2004

Prior to the 2007 federal election, Senator Sherry was Shadow Minister for Superannuation and Intergenerational Finance; Banking and Financial Services.

Nick was appinted Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Governance unpon the election of the Rudd Labor Government in 2007. In 2009, he was appointed Assistant Treasurer.
