Biography

Ursula was born in Ireland and came to Australia when she was seven. She grew up in Grafton and studied at the Teachers College in Goulburn. She taught in Sydney and Goulburn, and worked and studied in the Northern Territory for two years before returning to NSW.

Ursula ran her own executive development and training business for five years then joined the NSW public service. She has been Chair of the Rural Communities Consultative Council; a member of the NSW Rural Assistance Authority; a member of the NSW Board of Vocational Education and Training; and Deputy Chair of the NSW Women's Advisory Council.

Ursula has also been a member of the ALP since 1975 and held various senior positions within the party.

Ursula is Parliamentary Secretary for Social Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector in the Rudd Labor Government.
