Biography

Janelle Saffin was born in Ipswich, Queensland. At the age of 13 she left school to work in an abattoir. In her early 20s she obtained her qualifications in primary school teaching and later a law degree. Janelle has lived in the North Coast area for the last 31 years, where she raised her family with her husband Jim.

Janelle has proven experience, having founded the North Coast Breast Screening Program (one of many local initiatives she has spearheaded) and represented the North Coast in the NSW Upper House from 1995 to 2003. Recently, she has worked as Liaision Officer with the Australian Troops deployed from 3RAR in East Timor.

Janelle has a track record of delivering for the Northern Rivers - during her time in the NSW Upper House, she successfully secured a much needed $12 million upgrade of the Summerland Way.
